I'm willing to pay a bit, but the software should either be cheap, or be kept up to date without gouging me at every update. Should work on Windows 7, though if upgrading to Windows 8 or 10 would help, I'd consider it. So, here's my question: what are my options for real alternatives? I'm not going to pay $60 so that a computer equipped with a Blu-ray player can play Blu-rays. If you've ever had PowerDVD, you know that their updates are ridiculously pricey. The problem is, the program won't play newer Blu-rays, giving some "Your player has been compromised" error, which my research indicates is simply the program being outdated. However, it played Blu-ray disks using CyberLink PowerDVD 9. Everything was great for the longest time. So, in 2011 I bought a Sony Vaio laptop, custom with a Blu-ray player.
